350th Church Anniversary

Oldest Continually Serving Presbyterian Church in the United States Celebrates 350 Years of Service.

First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica extends a special invitation to members of the community to join in celebrating an impressive 350th church anniversary. As the oldest continually serving Presbyterian church in the United States this milestone is an opportunity to reflect on its rich history within the community; rejoice for the many blessings of the ministry; and renew its commitment to expand services to support the unmet needs of the community. The festivities kick-off with a worship service featuring dynamic guest speakers, explosive musical selections, inspirational drama and liturgical performances, and a few special surprises.

The celebration continues with a host of fun-filled events for the church and the broader community. Whether you’re looking for a church home or just visiting, all are welcome to share in this exciting time and learn more about the history, mission and work of First Church.

First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica welcomes guest preacher Rev. Dr. Scott Black Johnston, Senior Pastor of the Fifth Ave. Presbyterian Church; Elected officials (invited guests); past clergy and former members to participate in the celebration.

The First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica has been a historic sanctuary and treasure located in the heart of Jamaica Center since 1662. Today, First Church stands as a lasting legacy of its Dutch founders and the umbrella to the local churches and institutions that originated from its ministry, including the Jamaica YMCA, Jamaica Hospital and Princeton University.

A staple in the community for 350 years, First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica continues to provide resources to improve the quality of life and serve the unmet needs of residents in the community.
