Did you know that in September 2010 it will be twenty-five years of covering the news in the Tri-State Area. Our September issue will mark God’s faithfulness to the readers, pastors and our advertisers. Though a lot has changed in 25 years, our mission of spreading God’s love remains the same.
The Love Express continues to build bridges of unity between the different cultures and denominations that make up this exciting area. We will continue to write articles and features about ministries and people who are making a difference in the world.
It’s been a blessing these 25 years to serve you the readers. Even as we continue this journey, there will always be giants and grasshoppers in the land; many who would start rumors or start another paper just to cause confusion in the Body of believers. But, through it all, your faithfulness and with God’s help, you saw what my intentions were; to be a helping hand to the Christian Community.
Over fifteen years ago I wrote an editorial called Short Cuts which I believe can apply today. The Book of Deuteronomy is a lesson that tells us that there are no shortcuts to your destiny, to integrity and to living the victorious life.
The children of Israel would murmur, gripe, complain and bellyache. Nothing would satisfy them; not water, food, clothing or the leadership. They became part of the Shortcut Group. Shortcut to success, to money, to education, to ministry and to integrity. They would never accept responsibility for bills that they incurred, always blaming someone else. The long road is hard with blood, sweat and tears, but when you arrive, you have come through with clean hands, a clean heart and the favor of God.
Shortcuts lead to disappointments, rejections and heartaches. The children of Israel got what they wanted, but at what price. Full stomachs, empty soul, great careers but years of loneliness of soul. I’ve seen it happened time and time again. Big fanfare, a lot of hype but for the long road, they could not make it without honesty. I’ve seen it in business people, ministries, churches; all the glitter is not gold. My heart has always been a heart of love and you must always check yourself that you are not baited into a disagreement. My purpose and destiny is to remove the barriers that hinder reconciliation. But many want the shortcut. They say Birds of a Feather Flock Together. Be careful who you associate with. This is a Word to our readers, advertisers and even many pastors.
Many things have happened in the last twenty-five years. Change in the paper size, change to the editorial, content, change to add in the Web, Facebook and Twitter, change in my age and my body. I’ve lost ninety pounds and I will be celebrating my sixty-ninth Birthday, July 8th, 2010. and I’m a walking miracle.
I want to thank you for your continuous support and prayers. That which satan meant for evil God turned it around. From the moment I went to the hospital on December 7th, 2009 (I had a season of a stroke) I knew God was going to turn it around. Every step I took I followed in the footsteps of Jesus. I know what it means to fight; I went into a battle mode. I was fighting with the Word of God and the confession of my faith. The Love Express and The Word Center is experiencing a manifesting flow of God’s healing power and the blessings of the Lord. Our joint faith in God raised me up out of the hospital and back on my feet stronger than ever. Even the doctor said, “Edith is a walking miracle.”
P.S. The Love Express should not be used as a tool for information for their own agenda. The Lord states, “Do not build on another man’s foundation.” The goal of The Love Express is not to be a paper of competition, strife or jealousy, although sometimes it appears that way. My heart is for the reconciliation of the Body of Christ.
