The Praise Ship has taken off again. First stop was in the Planet Cincinnati, Ohio for the 47th Annual Convention of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. The session opens with the Holy Communion & the Bishop Albert Jamison who officially opened this year’s 47th Gospel Music Workshop at the Duke Energy Convention Center.

Everyday it was something new with rehearsals for various choirs, Daily Bread with some of the greatest preachers to come forth on this planet, such as Pastor Donnie McClurkin, Pastor Jamal Bryant and others. The nightly musicals brought us gifts and talents from all around the world. Showcases gave us new and upcoming recording artists. Record Companies & Media sponsors gave us lovely appetizers, along with the hottest artists this side of heaven. One gentlemen in particular Kenny Taylor showcases a nightly event, you just never know what he will come up with, whether it will be beach party, or a salute to America. The artists graced the stage to minister to us was truly music to our ears. One artist in particular made me realize how grateful one should be with the little things we have in life, when Lisa Page Brooks from the Habakkuk sang “Thank You.” Thank you is two little words that carry such a big weight, when was the last time you said thank you to our Lord and Savior and meant it. Lisa Brooks Page is in her season, truly an anointed woman of God, who has stood the test of time and survived the worst of time to stand firm knowing he is a keeper and she can truly say I thank you. Tuesday afternoon, the Gospel Announcer’s Guild, celebrating 41 years, held their annual luncheon, now changed to the Crystal Mic Award, which honors radio, print, internet and media for their excellent work for the kingdom. Multiple artists came to show up and show out. Livre from Bronx, New York represented NY for real. Pastor and First Lady Hambrick are doing a wonderful job with this group of young people and they made me proud, how they represented NYC. I had the greatest time at the quartet annual concert. I got a chance to meet a new quartet group, who I can truly say are a fresh new wind for quartet. The name of this group is Castro Coleman & Highly Favored. Do you think it’s because of their elaborate way of dressing or is it the sounds they produce? Inquiring minds want to know. If you do not have this group in your repertoire, run to your nearest record store and tell them Ms. Gee sent you.

Where can you go and receive a good word, knowledge on how to perfect your craft, prizes and just good old fellowship? In the room of the Gospel Announcers room of course you will find the greatest announcers, media, and internet guru from the oldest to ninety years young serving the communities and spreading the good news. Many artists passed through the room to give their thanks for our support, such as, Pastor Donnie McClurkin, Ernest Pugh, Doug Williams and many others. In the room Liz Black (WLIB) Sheila Belle (Belle Report) and Ms Gee created a song just for in the room, I tell you we got skills. This year theme was “Pursue and recover all.” I don’t know about you but I am tired of the devil taking my stuff, and I am taking it back, what about you?

Next stop was at J & K Buffet where Wingate High Gospel Choir held their reunion. Having started back in 1988, by Min. Jeff Edwards with just 12 students this has grown over the years to over 100 students under the direction of Pastor Michael Miller. They wanted to have a choir sound, not a school sound. This group has had the pleasure to share the stage with the likes of BeBe Winans, Yolanda Adams, Daryl Coley, and the late Pastor Timothy Wright. Students that joined the choir had a high graduation rate, no gang affiliation, and no unexpected pregnancy. The choir did so well it became a college credit course. This is a perfect example when you allow God into the mix and he is exalted; He will draw all men unto him. This annual reunion of past members is to bring all former members together, to catch-up with what’s going on in their lives and to keep the fellowship going, and even though the school has closed, the friendships are everlasting.
